I created this space for women like you—those of us who’ve experienced the joys and challenges that come with life over the years. My own journey hasn’t been straightforward, especially when it came to accepting the changes that naturally come with time.
For a long time, I found myself questioning my confidence, my worth, and my body, wondering where I fit into a world that can sometimes make us feel unseen. As a Black woman, it hasn’t always been easy to feel my beauty reflected in a society that often sends us the message that we’re not enough, or that our time has passed. I often found myself anxious about the changes that come with each passing year, worried that I was somehow fading away. But what I’ve learned over time has been so empowering and freeing!
I came to realize that beauty isn’t about fitting into a narrow mold or holding onto a perfect image. It’s something that grows and changes with us, becoming richer and more meaningful as we do. Letting go of the fear of aging has allowed me to embrace the idea that I get to define beauty for myself. Every line and curve tells a story—one of resilience, growth, and wisdom.
Creating sacred spaces in my mind and my surroundings has been a true gift to myself. It’s like setting up little sanctuaries where beauty can remind me of my worth and nourish me from within. And taking care of my body has shifted from trying to meet someone else's standards, to simply nourishing it with foods that make me feel good, and moving in ways that bring me joy, flexibility, and pleasure.
Beauty and self-love go hand in hand, reminding us that embracing who we are doesn’t mean we’re selfish, vain, or shallow. When we take a moment to appreciate our own beauty—inside and out—it’s like giving ourselves a warm hug. It’s about recognizing our unique quirks and imperfections that make us special, and understanding that self-love isn’t just a trendy phrase; it’s essential for our well-being. It’s a beautiful journey of self-discovery that can spread joy and acceptance, not just within ourselves, but to everyone we encounter.
